Schedule jobs on machines and publish to MES

APS turns the master production schedule into a Gantt plan, flags overloaded machines and sends only the published version to MES.

The planner picks a goal for the schedule.

What it does

  1. 01

    Goal-based scheduling

Pick minimum lateness, maximum utilization or lowest cost. Changeover times come from the changeover matrix.

  2. 02

    Bottlenecks and gaps

Machines above the load limit set for the plant are flagged. When data is missing, the plan says so.

  3. 03

    Versions and adherence

Plans move from draft to frozen to published. Adherence compares planned and actual dates for closed jobs.

Where the data comes from

  • Planner entry: resources, capacity calendars, changeover matrix, MPS items, forecasts and settings.
  • MRP and WMS: bills of materials and stock levels for material constraints.
  • MES closes jobs and reports status. A CMMS breakdown takes a resource out of planning.

Works with

Good to know

  • Scheduling is rule-based, with no global optimization. Each job is one block on one machine.
  • Only a published plan reaches MES. A draft or frozen plan stays invisible to the floor.
  • APS does not calculate material needs or place orders. That is MRP and Procurement.
