AI in IRIS

AI that answers from your plant data

The IRIS assistant reads your plant data and documents within your permissions. Recommendations come from rules, and a person decides what to do with them.

A person asks the assistant about a machine.

What AI in IRIS is

Most of it sits in the Data & AI module. It reads the other modules live and does not keep copies of their data.

  • Assistant

Answers questions about orders, machines and quality from what its tools read in IRIS. Found in GEMBA and Data & AI.

  • Knowledge bases

Your documents, split into passages. Search matches meaning and keywords. Each document can be limited to a department or a person.

  • Recommendations

Threshold rules check data from the modules. Each recommendation shows the formula and the inputs behind its score.

  • Agent

Writes a short assessment of alarms, NCRs, safety incidents and long downtime. Each factory has a daily limit.

  • Decision traces

Data & AI records decision traces, the outcomes of applied recommendations and a register of AI use.

  • Vision AI

A separately licensed panel for an external vision engine. It shows what the engine detected on your plant cameras.

The assistant reads and never writes

It answers from what its tools return in the conversation. It cannot create, close or change records, even for an administrator.

  • What it can read

Live plant data, your machine documentation, your processes and products, and a shared guide to IRIS itself.

  • Only what the tools returned

A number, date, machine name or fault code in an answer has to come from a tool result in that conversation.

  • Your permissions apply

It sees what your role allows. If you ask about data outside your role, it says it cannot answer.

  • It names the screen

If you ask it to open an NCR or a work order, it tells you which module screen to use.

  • Plant terms stay exact

Machine names, order numbers, statuses and fault codes are quoted as written, in any answer language.

From recommendation to a person's decision

By default a recommendation is only a suggestion and waits for a person to act on it.

  1. 01

    A rule checks the data

Data & AI runs its rules on a schedule you set, at most every 15 minutes, or when you press Evaluate now.

  2. 02

    The score shows its basis

The score is a rule priority between 0 and 1. The screen shows the formula and the inputs.

  3. 03

    A task lands in Tasks

Each recommendation waiting for a person becomes a task. In GEMBA the task shows the recommendation engine as its source.

  4. 04

    A person decides

Apply it, approve it, reject it, defer it or leave feedback. The task closes once the recommendation is applied.

  5. 05

    The outcome is kept

Data & AI records the outcome of each applied recommendation next to the decision traces.

AI in other modules

Some modules have AI features of their own, outside Data & AI.

  • QMS: AI Quality

Rule-based findings from open NCRs, overdue CAPAs, active stops, cost of poor quality and critical risks.

  • MES Service: Predictive Parts

Suggests parts a repair is likely to need. If the model service is down, it ranks parts by past repairs and says so. The technician decides.

  • Digital Twin

Simulation results go to Data & AI as synthetic data. You can also publish Line What-If results there.

What AI in IRIS does not do

  • The assistant does not create, close, change or send records. You do that on the module screens.
  • The assistant does not answer from the model's own memory, and it does not go past your permissions.
  • A recommendation comes from a rule, not a model prediction. Its score sets the priority order and is not a probability.
  • The agent does not assess every event with a model. Past the daily limit it writes a template note and says so.
  • Vision AI detection runs outside IRIS. IRIS does not store its images or results.
  • Vision AI zones help prevent incidents. They do not replace safety scanners or light curtains.
  • Vision AI does not open an NCR in QMS or an incident in HSE.
  • Data & AI has one permission for the whole module. You cannot give someone access to the knowledge bases alone.
